Family means everything. And the most special moments come from the times that bond is recognized from within. As grandparents, there’s nothing more important than the next generations receiving the most love and care possible to set them up for their lives to come. They are the future after all! They will be the ones to carry on the name and make us proud. Speaking of carrying on names…
Mike Sheff, 63, and his wife, Julie, arrived to Henrico Doctors Women’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, to meet their newborn grandson. The baby came into the world a few days early, so Jessi Way and her husband, Barrett, had time to name the child and keep it a secret. 🙂

The proud grandparents walk into the delivery room where Mike’s daughter is resting up after the birth of her son. They look upon the newborn with the utmost joy and enthusiasm, but it’s Grandma who notices the name tag first. And her reaction says it all!
She tells Grandpa that the baby has a name and points him to the name tag. That’s when Mike starts welling up. It reads: Michael Sheff Way. Not only did Jessi give her child Mike’s first name, but the middle name, Sheff, is her maiden name which was lost when she and her sister had gotten married. Just a wonderful tribute!
Grandpa covers his mouth in disbelief and the tears start to form. This clearly means the world to him, and when Jessi sees his reaction to it all, it reinforces the sentiment and makes her emotional about her decision to honor him in such a way. What a special gesture that will carry on Mike’s legacy—and the family legacy—for the foreseeable future.
