It’s no secret that we love our grandchildren and want to make the most of every second spent with them. As grandparents, we are the fun ones whereas their parents are there more for the discipline and responsibility side of it all. So what ways can we continue to entertain the young ones to strengthen our bonds and make memories together? Below is a list of five fun activities Grandparents and Grandchildren can do together! 🙂
Nature Walk
There’s nothing like the great outdoors! Taking the kids to a nearby park or even planning some activities in the backyard (yours or theirs) can prove to be just the thing we all need. The sights and sounds of nature while playing catch or having a treasure hunt? Yes, please!
Arts & Crafts
Creating things with your hands is always a good time, and this is a chance for Grandma to teach some of what she knows best! Turn it up a notch by making the supplies from scratch with the kids…
Puzzles & Games
Games are always fun to partake in together, but let’s try to avoid screens here… Many of the old board games you used to play hold up today and would be enjoyed by the young ones! So bust out some Trouble and Candy Land!
Lunch Date
The activity where most sweet memories are made: A nice lunch together! You don’t have to go out to a restaurant every time, although that is a nice change of pace here and there. Putting together a lunch or picnic at home can get the kids involved for some good life lessons!
Teach a Hobby
Teach the grandkids a hobby of yours that you really enjoy. You’re more alike than you might think when it comes to this stuff, and you just may introduce them to something that’ll shape their lives to come! New skills are always useful.
And there you have it! Five simple and easy ways to connect with the grandchildren to make memories and have fun while doing so. After all, we have to maintain our image of being the “cool” adults, right? 😉
