Hello there! I thought I would share some of my personal favorites from Netflix, the TV shows and movies that other seniors like me might relate to and enjoy. Some of them are classics worth the rewatch, and others new and worth watching (in my humble opinion)! My Top TV Series on Netflix for Seniors<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Below, I list my current favorites on Netflix as far as shows go. I also made an effort to include more of a variety, because let’s face it, we aren’t always in the mood for the same stuff over and over! Here they are, in no particular order:<\/p>\n\n\n

Grace and Frankie<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-MA, Comedy)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This adult comedy is my personal favorite and therefore my top recommendation! The proper and primp Grace and unconventional Frankie come together and start to bond after their husbands leave them, and the witty and quirky series never lets up!<\/p>\n\n\n

Fuller House<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-G, Comedy\/Family)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you remember the sitcom Full House<\/em>\u2014whether you watched it or your kids were into it\u2014then you may get nostalgic for Fuller House<\/em>. Just as the title suggests, this is a sequel to the original series set in the future with them all grown up with families of their own. A much fuller house, and we can all relate to that!<\/p>\n\n\n

Call The Midwife<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-PG, Drama\/History)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This newer series is set in London in the 1950s and 60s and centered around a group of midwives, some of them also nuns. And they’re just taking what life is giving them within their work, and outside of it.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Crown<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-MA, Biography\/Drama\/History)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a total of five seasons so far, The Crown<\/em> is inspired by the real events surrounding Queen Elizabeth II while mixing in some fictional dramatization of politics and her personal life. And it just works so well!<\/p>\n\n\n

The Good Place<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-PG, Comedy\/Drama\/Fantasy)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Self-absorbed Eleanor Shellstrop arrives to Heaven, or The Good Place<\/em>, by accident, and she does her best to become a better person to prove that she does in fact belong. The new series has some adult themes but plenty of lessons we can all learn from!<\/p>\n\n\n

Easy-Bake Battle<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-PG, Game Show\/Reality TV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now for a little easy-watching, reality TV… While there are a plethora of cooking shows on Netflix, I like “Easy-Bake Battle” for its eight seasons of quick and simple dishes that give me some ideas along the way. And there’s a big cash prize for the winner!<\/p>\n\n\n

Dream Home Makeover<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-G, Reality TV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is my go-to when I have a little bit of time and just want to kick back and relax. Bite-sized, half-hour or so episodes of house makeovers that are filling my brain with little things that would work in my own home!<\/p>\n\n\n

Heartland<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-PG, Drama\/Family)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re looking for a nice and long series with some substance to really dig your teeth into, the 14 seasons of Heartland<\/em> should do the trick! A teenager named Amy suddenly has to deal with the death of her mother while her and her grandfather have to fight for the family horse ranch.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sugar Rush Extra Sweet<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-PG, Game Show\/Reality TV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sugar Rush Extra Sweet<\/em> is a baking show that’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth! Teams race against each other and the clock to bake up the best desserts, and I’ve stolen more than a few recipes from here! \ud83d\ude09 <\/p>\n\n\n

Explained<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-MA, Documentary)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To change things up a bit, I threw in an educational show that covers a wide range of topics to help us better understand some of the more simple things in life and also the more modern things I feel so out-of-the-loop on. How did dogs become man’s best friend? Ever wonder what this cryptocurrency thing is you keep hearing about? This will get you up to speed, and you can pick out the episodes you like and watch them in any order!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Top Movies on Netflix For Seniors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

And now the best movies on Netflix, in my opinion! From some classics to some newer titles, you’ll be laughing and crying and thoroughly invested in what happens next! Again, in no particular order:<\/p>\n\n\n

The Lake House<\/h3>\n\n\n

(PG, Drama\/Fantasy\/Romance)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I just love me some Sandra Bullock! She plays Kate Forster, a woman who begins writing letters to the man who lives in her former home. And one thing leads to another\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n

Hampstead<\/h3>\n\n\n

(PG-13, Comedy\/Drama\/Romance)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re into movies centered around romantic relationships, Hampstead<\/em> is a newer film that should tickle your fancy. An American widow in London meets someone living off the grid, and together they take on the developers who want to destroy his home.<\/p>\n\n\n

Chocolat<\/h3>\n\n\n

(PG-13, Drama\/Romance)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just as I like chocolate, I love Chocolat<\/em>! A French woman and her daughter open their own chocolate shop, and it has a ripple effect throughout the community.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Perfect Family<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-MA, Comedy)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Perfect Family<\/em> is an easy-watching, witty movie and clocks in at only 1 hour and 47 minutes. The family of Luc\u00eda’s son’s girlfriend impacts her life in a way she never thought possible.<\/p>\n\n\n

When Harry Met Sally…<\/h3>\n\n\n

(R, Comedy\/Drama\/Romance)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1989, When Harry Met Sally…<\/em> is as good today as when it first released! Watch Harry and Sally’s unexpected relationship blossom into so much more…<\/p>\n\n\n

The Last Laugh<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-MA, Comedy)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A retired talent manager reconnects with an old client at a retirement home, and the two older gentlemen hit the road for a cross-country comedy tour and lots of shenanigans. This one really had me laughing!<\/p>\n\n\n

The Laundromat<\/h3>\n\n\n

(R, Comedy\/Crime\/Drama)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Laundromat features an exciting trio of Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman, and Antonio Banderas. A widow’s investigation into insurance fraud leads to two lawyers in Panama who hide money for the superrich.<\/p>\n\n\n

Notting Hill<\/h3>\n\n\n

(PG-13, Comedy\/Drama\/Romance)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

1999’s Notting Hill is about a bookstore owner and Hollywood icon who are brought together by chance, but it feels a little more like fate. And who doesn’t love Julia Roberts? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n

White Christmas<\/h3>\n\n\n

(TV-G, Comedy\/Musical\/Romance)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one is from way<\/em> back! Whether it’s that time of the year or not, White Christmas<\/em> is one I can always watch and never get tired of. The nostalgia is strong with this one, and if you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for? \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, there you have it! My recommendations and personal favorites that I feel are definitely worth your time.
